A Life that Leads to Love
1 Timothy 1:5 tells us that the purpose for sound doctrine is love: a love for God and for one another. And the kind of love that the Apostle Paul is describing is the love that comes from a pure heart, a good conscious and a sincere faith.
This week I want to encourage us to examine our lives and honestly reflect on the folllowing questions:
- Am I guarding my heart so that it reflects the character of God?
- Am I allowing God to continue to convict my conscious of sin?
- Am I fully and completely trusting in Christ for my hope?
As you examine yourself, use the words of David in Psalm 139:23-24 where he asked God to, “Search me, O God, and know my heart! Try me and know my thoughts!” It is a vulnerable prayer to pray but it is that vulnerbility and humility that keeps our life walking in obedience to God.
This week we will be looking at 1 Timothy 1:6-7. Take a moment and read through these two verses. If you missed last week’s message called The aim of our charge is love, you can listen here.
